Serghei Bolun
Serghei Bolun obtained his higher music degree in 1995 in tuba performance and band conducting from the State University of Arts, Moldova. According to Educational Perspectives, Chicago, this degree is the US Equivalency of Bachelor's and Master's degree in Music. In 2016 he earned the Performer Diploma with Provost Professor Daniel Perantoni at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
Serghei Bolun was the tuba player with Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, from 1992 until 2000. Serghei performed on seven Arte Nova Classics CD recordings of George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra, comprising classical repertoire (Johannes Brahms, George Enescu). In 2000 he was awarded the principal tuba position with the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra where he currently performs. Also, Serghei Bolun is the National Music Director of Lebanese Band Association for Promotion of Music. Moreover, for the last ten years he has led the Lebanese Conservatory Big Band as Artistic Manager.
Apart from performing and touring nationally and internationally with the Lebanese Philharmonic Orchestra, his career includes collaborations with several other orchestras,participating at chamber music festivals and competitions. Serghei Bolun was awarded the Second Prize with the Athenaeum Brass Quintet at the International Chamber Music Contest in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Another significant award he earned was the Grand Prix at the International Tuba Solo Contest in Konigsberg, Russia.
Serghei shares his musical life with his beautiful wife and wonderful pianist Olga Bolun.
